Robotics Level 1 - LEGO WeDo
Recommended: Incoming Grades 3-5
Skill Level: Beg - Int
Course Description
Let your student dive into robotics, programming logic, and structural design with LEGO Education WeDo. They'll use pulleys, levers, and sensors to construct snapping alligators and spinning robots, then program them with the WeDo visual drag-and-drop software. Students will build a strong foundation of coding and robotics skills for their tech future.
In this kids robotics course, students are taught engineering basics with an emphasis on exploration and trial and error field testing. Instead of simply "snapping bricks together," students are encouraged to think critically about how and why their design needs to adapt to changing conditions. Our guided, personalized instruction allows younger kids to understand more complicated engineering techniques such as gear use, pulleys, and inclined planes.
What Will Students Take Home?
Each student will go home with photos of the robot they created during the week.
What Will Students Learn?
Students will engage in conceptual skills development, along with enhancing problem-solving, creativity, and computational thinking skills.
Conceptual Skills Development
Software & Hardware Skills Development
STEM & 21st Century Skills Development
Skill Level | Is This Robotics Course Appropriate for My Student?
To enroll in this course, students must have completed Grade 2.
Our Recommendation
This robotics course for kids is ideal for younger students ages 7-10 who like to experiment and work with their hands. Students collaborate with teammates to create robots that range from simple to sophisticated, discovering valuable engineering basics along the way. Ultimately, we introduce students to STEM principles that set the stage for exciting futures in computer science , engineering, and math. Early exposure to STEM subjects like robotics, even at the most fundamental levels, leads to increased comprehension and sustained interest as students grow up. Let's get building!
